Science Day Presenters needed!

Science Day is a big event at Magnolia! We are in need of one or two presenters for our 4th/5th graders on Science Day, Thursday March 12th. The schedule consists of four 40 minute repeated sessions between 9am-Noon. There are several helpers that will be available to help and brunch is served for our volunteers. Also, if you are interested in helping organize this event next year, please contact Melissa Genewich at melissagenewich@yahoo.com

Our local Girl Scout Troop is offering a new program for students to share books via a FREE Library exchange. Here's how it works: 

The Library box is located next to the Lost and Found. You may bring in age appropriate books to donate. Anyone can take a book and return it or KEEP it if you want. There are NO deadlines to return books. Please take good care of the books if you plan to return it for others to read!

Enjoy all the FREE books to read! Happy Reading and Thank You to our Girl Scouts for this great project!

Yearbook Sales

Yearbooks are on sale now, cost $20 (through February 12th). After February 12, the price will go up to $25. Turn in your envelope to your teacher or front office. We are also accepting dedications (all grades) and photos (5th grade only) that must be submitted by February 12. If you have any questions or would like to submit your dedications/photos digitally, please email magnolialionsyearbook@gmail.com


Kindergarten/Transitional Kindergarten RoundUp~ February 26th 2-3 pm

The Kindergarten/Transitional Kindergarten Round Up will be held in our Cafeteria on February 26th at 2pm. This is a great time to meet our Principal, Teachers and learn about what forms are needed to register your student for the 2015-2016 school year. This event is preferably for parents only! We will have a Open House for students to meet the teachers closer to the beginning of the school year. 

School Registration and Intradistrict Transfer Information:

Is your child currently attending Magnolia?  Have you recently moved outside the Magnolia attendance area but within CUSD boundaries? If the answer is yes, you must complete an intradistrict transfer application for consideration to remain at Magnolia for 2015-16.  Online applications are available at www.carlsbadusd.k12.ca.us (click on “Parent Resources” tab).  If your child already has an approved intradistrict transfer you DO NOT need to reapply unless your child will be entering middle school and you do not live in the Valley Middle School attendance area.  The deadline to submit an intradistrict transfer application is MARCH 31, 2015.  If the deadline is missed, your child will be assigned to your neighborhood school.

Father/ Daughter Dance February 20th 6-8pm


Calling all Magnolia Girls! Bring your favorite fella for a night of dancing, music and celebration at Magnolia's annual Father/Daughter dance, Feb. 20. This year's theme is "Mardi Gras". Reservation forms will be sent home this week with all students and will be available in the office or by clicking here mardi gras invite. Advance purchase is $10 per couple; at the door will be $15 per couple. Each additional child is $5. There will also be professional photos available for purchase at the event for $20.

* April 6-10- Spring Break (no school)

* May 25- Memorial Day (no school)

* June 10th- 5th grade Promotion

* June 11- Last day of school!

**Paws for the Cause TAX RECEIPTS**

If you have not received a Pause for the Cause Tax Receipt, and would like one, please email magnolialions@gmail.com with subject line "Paws receipt please". If you have not yet contributed, and would like to, it's not too late! Forms are located in the Front Office and all amounts are appreciated! 

Sage Creek HOOPCOMING and Parade


The Sage Creek Bobcat ASB would like to invite you and your family to the BIG event on February 6th at 3:30. There will be vendors on site for dinner before the game against LCC. See flyer for more details:

We LOVE our Volunteers!

We would love you to volunteer at Magnolia, but don’t forget that you must do the following:

  • Complete a Volunteer Application, provide a copy of your current TB test (within the last 4 years) and provide a copy of your driver's license.  Return these 3 items to the Magnolia office. These steps must be completed every year, even if you have volunteered in the past.  We do not keep records, including TB tests, from year to year. Please contact the office if you have any questions. Thank you!

We would love you to drive on a field trip at Magnolia, but don’t forget that you must do the following:

  • Complete a  Field Trip Driver Application and bring a copy of your insurance declaration page to the Magnolia office. We do not keep old applications. Please contact the office if you have any questions. Thank you!

Type to Learn

Type to Learn is a program that students use at school in both the classroom and computer lab to practice crucial typing skills as we move forward with online testing. Click here TTL4 School to Home to access the download instructions for your students to log in at home and practice! Students in 2nd-5ht grades should be familiar with this program and be ready to log in once downloaded to your at home computer.

Looking for more ways to help MAGNOLIA?

Visit your local parks, beaches and neighborhoods and you will find plastic bottles and aluminum cans everywhere you go. Just by picking up a few at a time, you can make a difference. Even ask your neighbors to save their recycling every week. It all ADDS UP! Please keep recycling to any plastics that have a CRV. NO GLASS BOTTLES at this time please! 

We Recycle every Friday Morning! Please have recyclables here by 8:05 am for pick up and enter the raffle for a prize.  Thank you!
